Boy George

BoyGeorge1 BoyGeorge2

The first name for the fall shows in Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany is known: Boy George. His contribution to the NOTP shows is not totally unexpected since Jan already wrote on his blog of the 29th of June 2009 about his attempts to contact him for 2009; however, from his parole officer Boy George didn’t get the permission to go abroad. But Jan did sing an exclusivity agreement: Boy George returns to the European continent on the big stage exclusively for the NOTP shows.

BoyGeorge3 All those difficulties are the result of the rough life of Boy George. Born as George Alan O’Dowd (Eltham, 14th of June 1961), Boy George stood out by his public homosexuality and androgyny appearance (both man as female), his extravagant dress style and effusive make-up. During the eighties he became famous as the lead singer of the band Culture Club and scored different hits: mainly Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and Karma Chameleon.

During his later solo career, he released multiple albums and also had a few hits like Everything I Own from 1987. Besides that he started a second and very important career as DJ and released a series of mix albums.

BoyGeorge4 Boy George knew some different drug related problems with the justice department during the eighties; after that it was quite until he got arrested on the 7th of October 2005 in Manhattan for illegal possession of cocaine. In 2006, he got fined and got a community service for drug possession for which he had to work for five days sweeping the streets on a public road in New York; due to the enormous publicity, he could finish his punishment within the walls of the community grounds.
BoyGeorge5 On the 5th of December 2008, a judge found Boy George guilty with false imprisonment and abuse of a Nordic male escort who he, while under the influence of drugs, would have photographed (naked) and have chained and then abused; for that he got a punishment of 15 months in prison. He finished that punishment partially; on the 11th of May 2009 he was released earlier and placed under electronic supervision with an anklet; that measurement finished in March of 2010.

In a public polling held by the BBC in 2002 about the top 100 of greatest British people all time, Boy George ended on the 46th spot, higher than for example Francis Drake, King Arthur, Florence Nightingale, Jane Austen, James Maxwell and field marshal Montgomery! Also, he starred as a guest in one of the episode of The A-Team.

Karma Chameleon

BoyGeorge6

Desert loving in your eyes all the way,
If I listen to your lies would you say.
I’m a man without conviction, I’m a man who doesn’t know,
How to sell a contradiction,
You come and go, you come and go.

Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon –
You come and go, you come and go,
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
Red, gold and green, red, gold and green.

Didn’t hear your wicked words every day,
And you used to be so sweet I heard you say
That my love was an addiction, when we cling our love is strong.
When you go you’re gone forever,
You string along, you string along.

Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon –
You come and go, you come and go,
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
Red, gold and green, red, gold and green.

Every day is like survival, you’re my lover not my rival.
Every day is like survival, you’re my lover not my rival.

I’m a man without conviction, I’m a man who doesn’t know,
How to sell a contradiction,
You come and go, you come and go.

3x
Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon –
You come and go, you come and go,
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
Red, gold and green, red, gold and green.

Do you really want to hurt me?

BoyGeorge7

Give me time
To realise my crime
Let me love and steal
I have danced inside your eyes
How can I be real

Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Precious kisses
Words that burn me
Lovers never ask you why
In my heart
The fires burning
Choose my colour
Find a star
Precious people always tell me
That’s a step
A step too far

Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry

Words are few
I have spoken
I could waste a thousand years
Wrapped in sorrow
Words are token
Come inside/and catch my tears
You’ve been talking
But believe me
If it’s true
You do not know
This boy loves without a reason
I’m prepared
To let you go

If it’s love you want from me
Then take it away
Everything is not what you see
It’s over again

Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
