The classical music
Classic meets pop. Classical music deserves as much attention as popmusic.
Soon we will bring you a full review of more than 150 different pieces of classical music played during the last 24 years (from the first edition until 2008) on Night of the Proms.
Until then, we propose the following top-24 of the pieces played 3 time or more. So almost 130 different pieces of classical music were brought during all thos years at least once or twice, witch refferce to the large divercity brought in classica works.
24 years!
The winner is without any doubts Land of Hope and Glory, one of the Pomp and Circomstance Military Marches of Edward Elgar; brought since 1985 at the end of each evening. What ‘Music’ of John Miles means for the popmusic at Night of the Proms, Land of Hope and Glory means for the classical music.

The other second places goes to La Gazza Ladra, withc is used between 1985 and 2005 (except in 1987 and 1988) to start the second half; this piece is also adored for the assistance of Patrick De Smedt.

The overture from Gioacchino Rossini’s opera Guillaume Tell is always loved, just as the recognizable Sable Dance from Aram Khachaturian’s Gayaneh.
From Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen there were also pieces brought in six years, like the prelude and the aria L’amour est un oiseau rebelle
5 years
The popular Gipsy’s Chroir from Guiseppe Verdi’s opera Il Trovatore is being sung for five years.
The orchestra played as many years the popular dances from Johannes Brahms, the Hungarian Dans nr. 5 and the Leichte Cavalerie from Franz von Suppé automatically brought some atmosphere.
4 years
Four times, the organization let Robert Groslot conduct a favorite, Ouverture 1812 from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, just like the French Cancan from Jacques Offenbach’s Orphée aux enfers
There was also some singing in the Triumphs Mars from Verdi’s opera Aida, and during Händel’s Hallelujah from his Messiah. The Fire Dance (a.k.a the Danza ritual del fuego) from Manuel de Falla’s El Amor brujo let us heat up four times already.
